Featured Coffee – Winter 2011

Green-Beans1-300x168

Guatemala typically produces some of the finest coffee available, so it’s exciting when a particular coffee proves capable of going above and beyond these already high expectations. Sourced and roasted by our partners in crime over at Mr. Espresso, the following is their description of the coffee:

Finca La Maravilla, Huehuetenango, Guatemala
If we set out to build the ultimate coffee, we’d start out with an elegant floral aroma, layer in flavors of citrus and chocolate, support it with a heavy, velvety body, and finish with a sweet, lingering aftertaste. We wouldn’t be surprised that it came from a heavenly, high altitude farm nestled in the clouds, and if we tasted it, we’d certainly want to share it with everybody.

Well this is that coffee! Fortunately, Mauricio Rosales and his crew at Finca La Maravilla did most of the hard work for us, and through oak wood roasting we’ve allowed this coffee to reach it’s marvelous potential. La Maravilla translates from Spanish to “The Marvel” and we couldn’t think of a more appropriate name.

Stop by Bryant Street, where this coffee will be featured on the drip coffee rotation, heavily, over the next 3 months, or stop by 101 Montgomery where this coffee is available by the cup on our Kalita Pour-over bar.  8 oz bags of this coffee are available at both locations for $9.  Stop by and pick up a cup or a bag of beans, and enjoy!
